The radio and X-ray connection in accreting objects

21-25 May 2018

Tenuta Monacelle  (Monopoli,  Italy)
Meeting

This is an invitation-only workshop focussed on the accretion and ejection phenomena from an X-ray and radio perspective. The main aim is to investigate the accretion/ejection physics in AGN, in particular in potentially non-jetted AGN (Radio-Quiet AGN).

We intend to bring experts (both observers and theoreticians) in most of the astrophysics systems where accretion and ejection are in act, in order to have a broad vision on this phenomena and learn lessons to apply to non-jetted AGN.

The goal of this workshop is to gather together 30-40 experts which will tackle the following topics:

  • What is the origin of the radio emission in RQ AGN?

  • X-ray and radio as probes for accretion/ejection phenomena

  • Lessons from X-ray and radio variability

  • Theory of accretion and ejection

  • Discussion on future observational strategies for the study of radio weak AGN

Each of these topics will be covered by 6 to 8 review talks (30 minutes each) within a flexible time schedule, where plenty of time will be devoted to open discussion. The conference will start on Monday 21 May, after lunch, and finish on Friday 25, before lunch. A free afternoon is planned on Wednesday 23.

REGISTRATION
The cost of the registration fee is 250 euro (before 9 March) and 350 euro (after 9 March). This cost includes the conference hall rent, coffee breaks, a welcome cocktail on Monday afternoon, the Wednesday afternoon trip to Alberobello (UNESCO heritage) and the social dinner at the “La Sirenetta” restaurant in Savelletri (including transports).
A registration form will be provided by the Tenuta (info@tenutamonacelle.it) and the registration fee should be paid directly to the Tenuta.
VENUE

The workshop will be held at Tenuta Monacelle (Monopoli, Italy)

This is a quite unique location, a small village with 'Trulli' and 'Masserie', typical old Apulia constructions, surrounded by olive and cherry trees, two swimming pools and a very good restaurant.

To each speaker a very comfortable double room will be assigned at the cost of 85 euros per night, 105 euro for two persons (breakfast included).  Please contact directly the Tenuta for the room booking (info@tenutamonacelle.it).

Meals are not included in the registration fee. Light lunches will be served (20 euros each) and dinners at the restaurant will be served “A la carte” (around 30-40 euros). There are few restaurants in the surroundings.

A baby care service is available in case you will be traveling with children and it should be arranged with the Tenuta.

HOW TO GET THERE?
The Tenuta can be reached in 40 minutes by car from both the Bari and Brindisi Airports.
The Bari and Brindisi Airports are well connected with Rome FCO and several other international Airports.
From the Bari airport you can reach the Bari train station by bus, take a local train to Fasano (a few euros). The Tenuta can be reached from the Fasano train station via taxi, it will cost nearly 25 euros. A car can be rented at the airport, or a shuttle from the Tenuta can be arranged (shuttles can be shared).
